Sad MN sports fan since 1993
Appreciate the more thoughtful answer to the question about success for this year - wanted to try and get out ahead of you with my comment on the sale since that felt like the obvious answer

I’m just hopeful this leads to an Ishiba situation like the White Sox have - cash now as a partner, and an heir apparent in waiting

Varland was the big shock for me - thought for sure he'd be the next man up in the high-leverage spot after the Duran trade yesterday...

People always seem to forget that even the best bullpen arms are almost always starter converts

And we're not done dealing, so we may get the next Duran by the time it's all said and done

I don't strictly agree that we got worse for next year. An offseason for Abel to work with our staff should help. And as good as Duran is bullpen arms are so volatile year-to-year that there's no guarantee he'd be this good again next year. Plus Varland has shown late-inning potential to offset.

Great pace, but Dero and Harold hogging the analysis for each pick is a bummer. Not bad analysis, just wanting more variety of analysis

It’d be different it Ober was only at 85 or so

I’d think there’s not a better time to use him in a close game against 8-9-1 though trying to build him back up a little bit. Especially since Ober was at 95+ pitches through 4…

Have to imagine Julien would be odd man out in this situation. Give him some more time in St. Paul to rediscover his swing & swing decisions

Lack of a quick passing game has really hurt us today too - lots of pressure from Detroit and they haven’t had the quick hitters to the space pressure leaves

Couldn’t agree more. Read the article and was floored that something this weird and far from “traditional” has any traction at all.

I think there’s a “lack of belief” inherent in MN sports fans - we’ve been burned by successful teams before so we don’t spend our time/$ and energy on a team that may not be “legit.” The difference in attendance and vibe between the playoff games in 2023 and the end of 2024 helps show that point

Good piece; wonder if the idea of Jax converting to a starter again (based on Eno’s article) could have an impact on any potential returns or if Twins would even think about that as an option.
