Does it bite off more than it can chew? Probably. But the attempt is often genuinely astonishing. Two episodes in.

— but that it *moves* in the same way as the graphic novel. Sequences unfold and you can almost see the way it would have been drawn. The way it flows between stories, time periods, mediums, perspectives.

But man, when this show is on, it is ON. There’s parts I genuinely can’t believe made it to the screen. The ambition is virtually unparalleled in modern television. What I most appreciate is that it not only has such granular fealty to the story without being a rote retread —

One of those shows that is genuinely of great quality, hamstrung by an aggressively underwhelming ending. Needed an extra episode desperately, this thing has absolutely zero breathing room.
