All things history! Mostly Tudor, Regency, and Victorian, but also Neolithic, Celtic tribes, Roman invasion, Angle-Saxons, Middle Ages, Stewarts, Jacobean, Georgian, Edwardian, and more. Occasional political rants, frequent cats.
Okay, so this is late.... Happy Catunday! Baby, queen of all she surveys. 🙂#cute #cats

Fun fact: before 1823, the "Bloody Codes" in the UK meant that you could be hanged for stealing a sheep OR a lamb. Stealing one silver spoon, a rabbit, or a few yards of lace? To the hangman you go! None of this lessened crime whatsoever, btw. #crime #capitalpunishment

Poor Mr. Collins. Elizabeth Bennett just isn't into him. The Other Bennett sister gives a more nuanced portrait of his character. #janeausten #prideandprejudice

C.E. Brook's portrait of Mr. #Darcy for the 1895 edition of #prideandprejudice. This has influenced all versions that came after it. #janeausten

The original C.E. Brooks illustration definitely show him with dark brown hair. Maybe that's why? #austen #darcy #prideandprejudice

The answer is-- it all depends. By coach, the Gardiners traveled from Pemberley to Longbourn in two long days, 60 miles per day. Darcy boasted that he could do 50 miles in half a day, but with ten thousand pounds a year, he could obviously throw money at the problem. #janeausten #prideandprejudice

Okay, I'm FINALLY posting something about actual history.... have you ever stayed awake until 3 am with one question gnawing at your mind: how long did it take to reach your destination during the Regency in England??

The new Cambodian genotype causing all the new cases is a cross between the older Asian clade and the newer western clade, which is the one in the US. It's kept the same CFR as the older clade: around 50%. We don't know when it will mutate to spread h2h, or what the CFR will be when it does.
