It’s this framing like it’s Lewis’s job to himself prove to them. And the goalposts move every race. He’s topped every session, gotten pole & led every lap — still those ppl called another driver flawless. their list of things LH has to do to be perceived as “good” to them never gets shorter.

There is a baseline respect/protection media afford others that LH doesn’t get. Ppl will click on his name if he’s being praised or dragged. But it’s created a culture which deems it acceptable to openly disrespect someone who has achieved what he has. If he was white? It wouldn’t be the case

I thought that losing Serena, Roger & Andy would help but today hurts so much. I can’t believe this day has come. I’m not ready to lose him. My whole childhood has been defined by these legends🥺what is tennis without their magic? I’ve said it before, it’s like grieving my childhood over & over

I feel like this sums up the state of “personal style” today.
Ppl want the optics of wear & personalization w/out having to do the work of those things which require time & self expression. They’re buying the guaranteed validation of cosplaying approved looks. To be one self is to risk rejection.

Half of me feels really bad for the “lost generation” of tennis players who waited patiently for the big 4 to retire to finally win slams….only to get tag teamed by Sinner and Alcaraz every damn tournament 😭fighting for scraps on lower tournaments. Lucky if they secure 500 title.
