Fabulous hat.

Recent book finds. I do rather have a soft spot for book club editions. So nice to find some further SF examples. Though I think the Robertson Davies is the highlight here. Love a book about books; especially one with a cover this nice.

Life continues in a generally acceptable manner. Even with the poor weather that is all about, managed to leave the house. Lunch at Zola’s. Still have a major crush on the young Peggy Seeger, it would seem.

First of today’s lunchtime pick-ups. I mentioned that I hadn’t bought any blues LPs in a while, and this is more of a barrelhouse slash primitive R&B kind of a thing in truth. Great vocals, though; very Ray Charles in places. Can’t go wrong with Flyright.

Found this years ago in a basement in Clapham Junction. They had box upon box of dead stock.

This one has been on pretty heavy rotation the last few weeks. If you don’t know it… monolithic French cosmic, reissued by Superior Viaduct.

A choir of guitar-strumming, mini-skirt wearing, Caribbean nuns. In an extremely cool sleeve.

Music to accompany the ceremonial reading of the lease.

Marsupial loophole noted.

One from the stacks. A 1992 primer of Tropicalia favourites. Must say this is working wonders on a chilly November evening in the Northern Hemisphere.

I’ll be the first to admit that Brazilian music has always been somewhat of a blind spot for me. Struggled to find a way in, even though amazing things await discovery; or so I’m told.

Well, I picked this up today and I’m going to dedicate the weekend to finding my inner Tropicalista.

Some stellar Penguin covers… and that Penguin Crime edition is a masterpiece.

Books that were until recently in charity shops but now form the foundation of a new tsundoku in my home.

Saloua - Kif Rayi Hamelni

Another epic that stretches across both sides, so this is just the first part of part one.

Naâma - Ki Mchit Maah

This track has a run time of nearly six minutes, so apologies that it cuts off.

Generally I’m not one for 45s… but even my arm can be twisted when offered a box full of Enna Sham, Voix de Liban, Cairophon, Casaphon, Brotherphone… etc.

Everything I have played so far has been excellent. I will try and search out some clips and build the thread.
