as a quickly-approaching-40-year-old person, one of the saddest trends I see is the assumption that the Middle East™ is naturally a hotbed of religious conservatism when a closer look almost always reveals a peaceful, often socialist alternative kneecapped by the US govt bc the prior was preferable

Truth and wisdom are Good and reading this makes me feel Good therefore this must be true and wise 😞 I need a proper term for this phenomenon. I usually use semantic chaining/vibe rationalisation but that doesn't quite capture it.
