I want to very gently say something, and I hope nobody will be mad: If somebody on the internet says something that is NOT about politics and NOT about how terrible everything is, it’s a kindness not to reflexively make a comment (in jest or not) that brings it back to those things.

I would love to have an optional mode for #desmos (maybe in the scientific calculator?) that let you include units for values.
My students do good with units at the specifying end, but just completely forget about them as soon as they start punching in numbers.

My EMDR treatments from this summer continue to be effective. I can now get through our district's Suicide Prevention Training without repeatedly dissociating.
Doesn't keep the training from being completely horrible and soulless. OMG it's bad.

I've been in that meeting where we're given the employee assistance number, and when asked if admin could maybe help contribute by lower stress just received a blank stare in response.

I know that sounds like a strange title for a blog entry, but go with me for a minute here. I worry a little bit about how many educational organizations are preaching that educators have to engage in self-care, and the reason that I worry about that is because it feels to me that there is some organizational abdication of the need to take care of our educators when that is the message.

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced he is sending CHP officers assigned to Crime Suppression Teams into San Diego, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Central Valley, Sacramento, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He will, among other things, use predictive policing to suppress “criminal activity.”
