He's not on here, but NYC Council Member Chi Ossé's bill mandating brokers fees be paid by whomever hires the broker just passed! Too often landlords hire brokers but shift the exorbitant 15% fee onto renters who have no choice but to pay! With this bill, that changes. gothamist.com/news/nyc-cou...

The bill would require whoever hires the broker to pay the fee. Usually, that’s the landlord.
