Dentacloud is among the few dental businesses that have received taxpayer funds from the Ministry of Labour under the Ford government. Another company, which lobbyists for listed Dentacloud as its “subsidiary” in filings to the federal registry, also received about $5.1 million from the ministry over the last couple of years. The funding that it, Carlo Biasucci’s Elite Practice business, was granted came from a different program than the Skills Development Fund, according to Piccini’s spokesperson. Biasucci’s consulting company helps dentists grow their practices, according to its website. Biasucci also worked closely with McNaughton’s wife through the same dental organization as Maggirias. The Biasuccis are prolific PC donors. Carlo’s father’s construction business, which Carlo is not involved in, received $3 million from the Skills Development Fund in the most recent funding round.

Maggirias was also a part of a “dental roundtable” that Ford arranged to chat with on June 10, 2024, according to the premier’s calendars and other records. Dentacloud was awarded the taxpayer-funded grant by former labour minister Monte McNaughton’s office. At the time, Maggirias worked closely with McNaughton’s wife as part of another organization that they were both involved with, as The Trillium previously reported. Kate Bartz, McNaughton’s wife, previously said in an email that she “never discussed the Skills Development Funding program and I never advocated on behalf of any recipient at any time.” Ford replaced McNaughton with David Piccini when the former labour minister left cabinet and elected politics in the fall of 2023. Piccini’s office then extended another $3.8 million in SDF funding to Dentacloud. The company ultimately declined the latter grant, however. Kwan, Dentacloud’s COO, said the company “decided to focus on other strategic priorities and did not take the funding.”

a skunk is shown foraging in some impressive buds. the image is from sensiseeds i don't know who they are i was just looking for a picture of skunks and weed becase we have a serious issue around our place. i love the skunks and am good with neighbours who smoke weed but the industrial weed plant downwind is a menance. - us "nimby's" been working on getting the later out (and having it reclassified as industrial because it is NOT agricultural. - agricultural is the pig manure spreading corn farmers. it's once or twice a year a good seasonal reminder.

To make the Northern Gateway proposal even possible, Carney will need to launch even more significant rollbacks of environmental regulations. It would mean eliminating the emissions cap. And don’t fall for the line that the oil industry will be forced to invest in carbon capture. They are using this process to dredge empty wells for enhanced oil recovery. It means more oil production, not less carbon. But the biggest target is killing the tanker ban on the BC coast.

Just learned of #WoodpeckerWednesday and had to get in on the action. Offering a #PileatedWoodpecker that was industriously bopping about before the weather started to turn.
a pileated woodpecker peels is shown on a tree in a spot of carolinian woodlands. it was friendly and allowed me to watch for a good period of time. it stripped the bark off the area above it, pecked out some grub, and then moved down to the spot where its shown to strip more bark and repeat. Great Day!

exciting news!

(also posting an egret mass experience from earlier in the year because i still can't get over it. there were 40-50 birds spread out in little groups like this in a small marsh area. thrilling)
a photo that is not related to the BBC News story but is one of many i took during an experience with egrets & herons earlier in the year. it is a small crop of sixteen or so egrets with a spattering of ducks in a marsh, through the fog, at sunrise. on this morning there were at least 40 or 50 egrets spread out like this in groupings throughout the marsh. i come here fairly often and there's always egrets/herons (this spot is literally named egret cove) but this morning there were almost twice as many as usual. have not run into this many since.

he Toronto Star covered Stiles’ press conference, but later issued a correction after the government clarified that the bill is “not a water privatization proposal.” However, Simon Enoch, senior researcher at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, says the language in the bill about these corporations is vague. “They’re really trading on the confusion or sort of opaqueness of what a public corporation is,” Enoch told PressProgress. “A ‘public corporation’ also just means a corporation that’s publicly-traded, which is privately-owned.” The legislation makes no mention of these new organizations being publicly owned, but it is stated that they will incorporate under the Business Corporations Act, which is used to incorporate for-profit, private corporations. Alexandra Pinosa, a researcher at CUPE, told PressProgress that Bill 60 and changes to the Municipal Act set the stage to replace current water-delivery services provided by regional municipalities with a for-profit entity at the direction of the minister, starting with Peel Region. “Water is the last public utility in the province — electricity and gas have already been privatized,” Pinosa said. “Previous bills under Ford’s government plan to replicate this for-profit utility model for water in six other regional municipalities: York, Halton, Waterloo, Niagara, Durham, and the County of Simcoe.”

Why would a company that received $9.8 million over 4 years (!) operate out of a semi-detached home? Not even a PO Box.

Like, did they teach the strippers to pole dance in the garage? The chef to flip the hot dogs on the back yard BBQ? The bar tender to mix drinks in the basement bar?

Something about the phrasing of this, "expects to receive the money by the end of the month." It's like a mob boss or corporate for-profit landlord trying to shake someone down.
Statement from the corrupted corporation obviously set up as a coprorate grifting scheme and with close ties to the Conservative party, literally being staffed by conservatives: "We EXPECT to receive THIS MONTH'S money at the end of the month. Take home HPV kits are also highly effective in prevention & need to be made readily available through OHIP the same as FIT tests.

In fact, its eight largest stock holdings were all AI stocks. At $33 billion of combined value, these holdings amount to a quarter of the value of the entire pension fund. Quebec’s main pension fund, La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), also reported Nvidia as its largest holding at the end of September. Almost all of the “Maple Eight” big pension funds also lead with Nvidia and other AI stocks as their largest holdings, or they are loaded up on index funds that are in turn overloaded with Nvidia and other AI stocks. What happens then to the financial security of ordinary people if the value of these stocks collapses overnight? According to Deutsche Bank, there is “no playbook” to deal with the potential fallout from an implosion in AI stocks. The Bank of Canada, meanwhile, says it doesn’t know what the wider impact of an AI correction would be."

in yesterday's episode of 'The Birds'

hundreds, if not thousands - the flock was LARGE but possibly not Massively so - of european starlings murmered back and forth over the vineyards at Henry of Pelham yesterday. they had blocked the road and murmured close around our car - exhilarating! (Also, napped a bonus flicker in the mix at the end.) - in 2007 (?) there was reported here a flock estimated to be upwards of 20,000!
