She made deals with Black Adam, she saved the Greek Gods, and got powers from them. She even had a heel turn when Infinite Crisis came around (with an unfortunate costume change. It was the 2000s, we knew better, but we kept doing it).

Mary Marvel is a character designed to be Billy Batson’s backup. She was never meant to be a main character, and I really think that’s a shame. She deserves her time in the sun, or lightning, if you will.

Do you have a favorite Lost Generation character? I’ll start: I’m always looking for more Stephanie Brown and Bunker in my life.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Marvel has shown how young heroes can be utilized effectively with Kamala Khan and Miles Morales. Editorial pushed for them to consistently have books and effectively included them in teams.

I started reading comics just before DC’s 52 series came out. This is a prime example. Jamie Reyes and Kate Kane were both created as exciting new diverse characters, but it became apparent that DC editorial had no clear plans for them after 52.

Connor Kent gets sidelined anytime there’s not a Titans or Young Justice book. With Batgirls, only one gets to shine at a time. And in X-Men, for every Magick, 15 Chambers vanish.

I’m a big fan of teen heroes, but every five or so years, after a character is introduced, it becomes challenging. There’s a pattern I call the Lost Generation Problem.

I always tell people that I titled "I'm A Princess Who Ran Away To A Magical World" to match the trend in anime and light novels. The truth is, I've always loved long titles.

I would love to see someone like Trudi Hemans take on this black, queer, sci-fi epic. Her art captures the kind of whimsy I’d love to see in this arc.

What I love about her is that she’s an armor-wearing character, but she’s not really motivated by the science or research. She really wants to be a hero! All the way back in 52, she signed up for Infinity, Inc. because she wanted to save people!

If DC used Natasha Irons to her full potential, they would have had their own Riri Williams long before Marvel.

Someone asked me what Tyranny of the Fey is about, and I blanked.

I guess it’s about the harm of colonization, breaking tradition, and how terrifying it is to make decisions.

(Also sword lesbians, fey politics, and how grief complicates romance. So… yeah.)

I would love to see an artist like Carli Squitieri take Cassie on. She's a fun character, and this cover for the My Adventurers with Superman comic really captures the vibe.

Outside of the stories where she found out about it, the closest I ever remember this being explored was in Brian Michael Bendis’s Young Justice series, and it was more of a teaser than anything.

Wondergirl (Cassie Sandsmark) has a nearly non-existent relationship with her father, Zeus. It’s wild to me this hasn’t really been explored because she’s the only true demigod among Team Wonder (Diana’s retconned origins aside) #wondergirl #dccomics #teentitans #dc #youngjustice

So this reply had like three comments about me missing the point because PBS was getting defunded. Are bits dead? Obviously I understand that Elmo isn't actually looking for work and this is about the funding of public media. We're allowed to have fun, even, or maybe especially, in dark times.

Progress has been made! One of the best parts about manning a booth at a convention is the time have between customers to work on stuff. This tells me that if l'd actually buckle down and set aside some time to work on this, it could happen pretty quickly. At least, think so. keep you posted.

A couple weeks ago, I just released "Me and My Best Friends Became Adventurers in a Fantasy World." I really loved writing a book about two odd couple adjacent supportive friends as they grow into adults, including some sweet moments of queer love with my lesbian Orc, Karuk.

Tyranny of the Fey is a short story collection set in the fantasy world of Galevyn. It features stories about three queer women looking for adventure. It is very D&D adjacent with themes of found family, grief, and first love. QIAPIT
