Always hate visiting these ski villages with those small streets and people walking around enjoying shops and restaurants in close proximity and a central area for everyone to gather/connect. Thank god we don’t replicate this in our daily lives.

honored to keynote the e-bike policy summit and to highlight how e-bikes are a tool for access for disabled (and other) nondrivers. Thanks to @bikeleague.bsky.social & @peopleforbikes.bsky.social for your advocacy in this space.

"Regulations that require licenses or insurance for e-bikes would eliminate biking as a mobility option for us as low-vision non-drivers, and for many other non-drivers as well."

Excited to be part of the upcoming @bikemn.bsky.social E-Bike Policy Summit and to share this piece on @streets.mn!
E-Bikes Mean Freedom for Low-Vision Bicyclists
Recently enacted and proposed regulations requiring licenses or insurance for e-bike riders threaten a vital transportation lifeline for Americans who can’t drive.

@hankgreen.bsky.social I'm now intensely curious if you unlisted this video or if YouTube forced it for some reason. My wife went looking for it and couldn't find it, which is how we noticed it had gone unlisted!

This transformation shows what happens when visionaries like Jan Gehl and Jeff Speck meet political will. A sleepy, underutilized suburb center evolves into a vibrant, livable space that prioritizes people. Proof that with leadership, suburban spaces can thrive.

you can surf the net *and* order a slice! (the first time I ordered pizza online was at a small lan party with friends. when we opened the box a bunch of the cheese was stuck to the top and pulled off the pizza. I said it was "packet loss" and my nerd friends laughed.)

Climate chaos is coming for us.

Some places face bigger risks than others, but no matter where we live, we're going to struggle to adapt to events unlike anything we've seen before.

I'm a climate futurist.

Let me level with you about what this means.

You don’t get to the point where parents can cycle their kids around town in total, laid back safety by ‘solving the world’s big problems first’, you solve the world’s big problems by first ensuring parents can cycle their kids around town in total, laid back safety.

I want to make a personal request to those of you who use a bike for transportation purposes to start taking more photos and posting them.

You can do so much by showing even the most mundane errands with a bike to educate and inspire others. They're often more effective than words. 📸

Here in Philadelphia it has also become a rather common sight to see parents with kids on the back of their cargo bikes.

We need to get them better protected lanes!

10 years ago the naysayers said "London is not Amsterdam, who will cycle here?"

Now people say "Our city is not like London"

If you build it, they will come.

we've had (several) cargo bikes continuously since 2016.

as our kids got older, we added a (lightly used) electric cargo bike (tern bicycles ftw) to the mix. it was a game changer.

local governments need to be giving them away for free.

SEPTA already spends less per capita than nearly all other peer cities. There’s really no room to cut, this is going to be a transit death spiral if Shapiro doesn’t flex highway funding soon (and assuming Project 2025 doesn’t end the flex, as it promises)
