From #Copenhagen to #Uppsala!
The past two days were full of engaging discussions and insights into diverse, and yet often mutually constitutive colonial legal systems and their influence on family formation in the Caribbean. Many thanks for the invitation!

What a great conference it was at @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social!

Many thanks to @hsmurphy.bsky.social and her team for the kind invitation and the opportunity to present parts of my PhD project in front of so many experts in the history of #medicine, #race and #slavery

Spring has arrived at the #NationalArchives in Pierre-fitte and while exploring the collections, I came across some intriguing medical ads from #Martinique, offering yet another glimpse into #healing practices in the French #Caribbean.

Most #archives of the French #Caribbean colonies are stored at the ANOM, but records on the health of enslaved people are rare. Today, I came across a 'journal d'hôpital' from a so-called plantation hospital in 1789, difficult but important material to study with @feverprojecthd.bsky.social.

Back in Paris, looking into how people in slavery and plantation managers in the French Caribbean dealt with diseases like #fevers, before heading to the Archives in Aix. Any recommendations? #History #Slavery #CaribbeanStudies

Does anyone else feel like time flies when you are in the archive? ⌛️ The last 10 days at the #ANOM definetly went by too fast...

An impressive and creative approach by Dominican-American artist Firelei Báez in challenging the (colonial) archive. Today, I visited the current exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and I can highly recommand it!
