President-elect Donald J. Trump is keeping secret the names of the donors who are funding his transition effort, a break from tradition that could make it impossible to see what interest groups, businesses or wealthy people are helping launch his second term. Mr. Trump has so far declined to sign an agreement with the Biden administration that imposes strict limits on that fund-raising in exchange for up to $7.2 million in federal funds earmarked for the transition. By dodging the agreement, Mr. Trump can raise unlimited amounts of money from unknown donors to pay for the staff, travel and office space involved in preparing to take over the government. Mr. Trump is the first president-elect to sidestep the restrictions, provoking alarm among ethics experts. Those seeking to curry favor with the incoming administration now have the opportunity to donate directly to the winning candidate without their names or potential conflicts ever entering the public sphere. And unlike with campaign contributions, foreign nationals are allowed to donate to the transition.

Louisiana Sheriffs seem to have an opinion on everything but unless they're vocal about this it's never gonna change
veritenews.org Louisiana sheriffs are already struggling to accommodate 17-year-olds moved from juvenile courts into the adult system earlier this year. While Louisiana state law may consider a 17-year-old an adult for criminal justice purposes, the federal government does not. In order to comply with federal law, sheriffs have to keep anyone under age 18 separate from adult detainees and provide them with educational services. Sheriffs have complained they don't have the space in their jails or resources to meet these federal requirements. A few are spending money to house the 17-year-olds at a special facility in Jackson Parish in order to not run afoul of federal or state mandates.

Make sure to write compelling dialogue that doesn’t just sing on the page but would sing in a clip played at the Emmys. Remember, this is a tough category; Nicole will probably be up against Sarah Paulson. Actually, just write a supporting character in the book that Sarah Paulson can play. That way, Nicole won’t have to compete with her at the Emmys.
