Anyone worried about heating bills this winter should get some heated blankets and heated mattress cover. They cost pennies to run and provide localised heat. I used to love my heated mattress cover and wake up warm and cosy in bed. They aren’t just for the elderly, they can be great for anyone.

House prices in the #UK are actually fair value now adjusted for inflation. The problem is actually deposits and interest rates. If we were in the #EU and #EURO our inflation and interest rates would be about right at 2.5%. We should have 100% mortgages for renters with 4 years of larger payment.

No shit. This is what I’ve been telling people for 5 years. Ironically I nearly bought £5000/$6500 in 2014 lol #bitcoin

We would love to have you in the UK. We’re English speaking, have cheap healthcare and have all the usual American brands. You will not believe the historical architecture and everything is within a days travel by car or train. See my list of places to live. There are many more and many accents.

This is the establishment. Dido Harding awarded £50bn of government funds for track and trace. How did that go?

#Labour and Wes Streeting want Simon Wessely to say mental health is over diagnosed and people should not get pip but talking therapy & work coaches.

This is correct to an extent but he is a paid shill for the psychiatrist industry whose lies about #MECFS set research back 15 years. Failed upwards🏆

The most strategic way would be to buy Bestway for £3-4bn which includes wholesalers and costcutter which would include the following:

If you follow America’s slide towards an authoritarian state & speed of changes #project2025 you can follow at www.project2025.observer

I’d use a VPN if you are there. Now if you look at polling considering the polling & #Vance charisma compared to #Newsom you can see why the betting is level.

#Labour need to do benefit reform of some kind. I would suggest health based (incapacity benefit) to only be available to those on PIP under the new Timms review guidelines. It’s an uncomfortable truth that we have a pandemic wave of claimants that isn’t #LongCovid and is not seen in other countries

Yeah it’s possible. I’ll continue to watch the evidence. Let’s hope for a not guilty plea and a trial.

This needs to be fixed before #AI is rolled out into our #NHS

We need fundamental improvements before we accept becoming a AI mini state of the USA, although I also welcome the investment and #Starmer and Kyle are doing the right thing. This should be brought up in private as part of the deals.

Congratulations to Channel 4, not only do they have the best news coverage of the whole #MSM including ‘Trump vs the truth’, a great level of decent drama including the recent ‘in flight’.

They have also been the first app to update for #IOS26 on #Apple as seen in my photo.

Kudos

Wes #Streeting is on manoeuvres and quite rightly so. He is supporting #Labour values including on #Trans rights. He is also the most charismatic and best communicator in the Cabinet. I think he or #Burnham are the only serious candidates that should be considered if and when #Starmer goes.

Lucy Powell is a much better choice for Deputy #Labour Leader. She was Ed Milliband’s main campaign spokesperson and is better at interviews, comes from a left wing think thinktank background compared to a Blairite one and supports proportional representation @philmoorhouse.bsky.social

This is the betting on when #Starmer will resign. I think next year would be a mistake. Depending on the May council results and the budget he will be under pressure but it’s a mistake to go too early as ministerial shake ups are chaotic for implementing policy and most ministers are doing well.

This is how #dictators think #Putin #Xi

I think research on Yamamaka Factors could mean this is a reality but not in their lifetimes thankfully. I look forward to #Putin dying and will be doing my best to outlive him.

I think they are correct that in <50 years this could be possible.

The spoilt rich kid who wasted all her privilege to sell drugs to other rich people. She should not get 65 years but has shown little remorse and is living in a bubble. If only she had been supplying Elon Musk she wold get 2 years in minimum security jail.

1/ #HMRC has shown some improvement in it’s performance but there were 73k reports of fraud and only 300 criminal cases. For an effective deterrent this needs to be thousands. An investment of £2bn could raise £10bn. The technology is outdated and costs 4m work hours. #Labour #economy #politics

Our use of #asylum hotels is an outlier in Europe. Most countries have not allowed large backlogs and have specialist centres to process claims. Similar to a minimum security prison. This is a far better approach if we didn’t have a prison culture we could do this. We should do this and can do this.

If we lowered the universal credit taper rate to 28% which is the lowest tax rate for full time only (35 hours in this example), we could make people who work full time with children £389 a month better off. This would be a massive incentive for part time workers to go full time. #politics #labour
August 20, 2025 at 4:02 PM
I also think we should be removing the 2 child limit and making the marginal tax rate for working extra hours 40% not 55% as it’s ridiculous to make people work extra hours for £5.15 an hour. This is the true jobs tax in the #UK which #Labour should eliminate.
