You really cannot spend an hour on the internet without encountering entrenched gender essentialism nonsense.

I don't think you have to be nonbinary to REJECT those notions loudly and vigorously, but I do view part of being nonbinary as mashing the "UNSUBSCRIBE" button on gender as a construct.

The thing about the whole "would you kill Baby Hitler if you had a time machine" that irks me is that it suggests that no Hitler = no Third Reich and in reality no Hitler probably means a Himmler led Third Reich, its not like the other Nazis were just tagalongs who wouldn't be Nazis if not for Adolf

At this point, I wonder if he isn't lying when he says he has "my highest Poll Numbers, ever" since it's entirely possible that's what his aides are telling him. It's quite likely that there's an entire Potemkin village built around Trump right now.

As the news about the two national guardsman in DC starts to unfold I need to remind everybody that you do not have to have a take. In fact, it is probably better to wait before having a take.

I don’t trust a single one of these politicians regardless of their side, but I still think it’s important to boost what they are doing. It will be very interesting if this goes forward.
““If they’re not gonna run the programs, then what are we paying them for?” she said. “It’s like, you know, you’re paying us for a service and they’re not delivering. So let’s stop paying for it.”

Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill said on a podcast with Jon Stewart it's a "great idea."

it is remarkable how GOP was able to offset their entire fundraising apparatus collapsing in 2024 because of like six rich people
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Not for nothing but the “bromance” stuff is as made up cope as anything else. I haven’t heard a clip of Mamdani saying anything other than “I appreciated the invitation to discuss things with him” and agreeing that he called him a fascist

the takeaway from the Zohran Trump meeting is that Trump is a gullible fool who will temporarily bend to the last charismatic person he talked to.

Zohran played him perfectly but that doesn’t mean Trump is good now. He’ll go back to fascism tomorrow morning after he talks to Stephen Miller

no, it’s fucking terrible for trump, lol
I don't know if it makes sense to describe what happened today as "good PR". The Fox crowd doesn't seem terribly thrilled about the meeting either.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Maybe if people think the Democratic Party is "weak" it is not because they think that Democrats "care about other people" but that they "fold every single time."
This shit is why people don’t trust the Democratic Party.

The New York Times has been going down the drain for a long time. They should not be trusted.
The @nytimes rightly taking heat for burying coverage of the massive protests in tiny pics below the fold on the cover and the story on page 23 — while saying they drew “thousands” (it was millions) and glazing Vance’s marines stunt.

What’s going on in there?

Kaufmann has written a response to my piece that borders on nonsensical. He continues to assert that his use of unweighted data, something the organization he gets the data from explicitly has stated is incorrect on the record, is the best way to measure gender identity trends.

1. Many of you have seen a graph purporting to show trans identification has decreased in recent years.

Matt Walsh and Elon Musk celebrated it as a victory over "transgenderism."

Turns out, the entire graph is based on an egregious math and statistics error.

Fact Check: No, There Is Not A New Survey Showing Trans Identity Is Decreasing
The claim, which originates from far-right professor Eric Kaufmann, appears to have made a glaring error: the survey actually shows more people have come out, not fewer.

$40B is enough to cover the SNAP benefits for over 16 MILLION people assuming the maximum monthly benefit.
Trump says his $40B bailout for Argentina's failing libertarian economy is "not gonna make a big difference for our country."

Really?

Imagine if we invested those billions on healthcare and housing for Americans, instead of bailing out Trump's pals abroad.
