It was a brilliant day! Lots of great dancing. I love the shadows in this shot I took of Great Western Morris!

Rare night shining silvery wisps of night shining noctilucent clouds visible just now above Teignmouth, Devon. They're unusual because they are so high (around 80km above ground). They're only occasionally seen a month or two either side of the summer solstice latitudes 50-70°.

I must admit I was quite shocked at how many were stranded. It's almost 10 years to the day that some barrel jellyfish (Rhizostoma pulmo) washed up. They were the size of dustbin lids! My then 5 year old son in particular was fascinated by them!

Thousands of Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) stranded on the beach in Teignmouth today. More than I've ever see

Really looking forward to being interviewed on stage at the Dartmoor Tors Festival in Ashburton 6pm tonight & offering a rare insight into how we (Beltane Border Morris) embed the spirit of Dartmoor into our wild & 🔥 performance.
Still a few tickets left! dartmoortorsfestival.co.uk/beltane-bord...

Hi! Mostly off all social media - digital detox and supporting family. Am still about though! Currently burning last years spent morris sticks and looking forward to some summer warmth! I hope all's well with you down in Kernow!

Interesting effect of passing clouds on the projected image of the eclipsed sun accompanied by the tweets of our inquisitive robin! #solar #eclipse

Like many of you, I've always been fascinated by eclipses. Here's an image of this morning's partial solar eclipse viewed from #Teignmouth #Devon shortly after 11am

Beautiful spring morning. Quick round trip to Lustleigh and a cuppa and chat at the Dairy by bike.

I've just been there too! I left Kent 36yrs ago & visiting Swale station & walking 'home' 2 S'brne has always been on my to do list. It definitely didn't disappoint! A combo of idyllic remote marshland with expansive views & massive industrial complexes. A passing flock of avocets was the highlight!

Ordinarily there are more air frosts here in Teignmouth in Feb than Mar. The long term average is 3 in Feb & 1.2 in March. That's 'climate' - the average of the weather. But this year's weather has been somewhat different with 0 in Feb & 3 already in Mar with more in prospect tonight & tomorrow!

I was thinking the same thing about my barograph this morning! And it's risen further during the day. Just checked my records and it's still below my record when it topped 1050hPa on 19/1/2020! In that event London had its highest mean sea level pressure in 300 years!

I've always been fascinated by ✈️ & gazing up the Teign estuary at lunchtime saw an RAF Airbus A400M Atlas fly directly overhead & mulled over its route. Thankfully FlightRadar helped me out! Aircraft often seem to follow the estuary & turn at the Point here in Teignmouth

Pleasant surprise just now seeing a bumblebee busily feasting on my winter flowering sweet box (sarcococca confusa) with an air temp of just 7.3C!

Quite a contrast between the hail, thunder, high winds and rough seas of today with this view I took yesterday afternoon of a lovely calm scene at Turf Locks on the Exe Estuary, the silence broken only by a flock of brent geese flying past. Note the faint 22° halo. #January #Devon

Rough seas this afternoon in Teignmouth during #StormHerminia . My barograph trace shows the impressive drop in air pressure this morning. 31mm in my rain gauge today so far, that's a third of January's mean rainfall!

Wonderful surprise to spot and admire some gannets enthusiastically diving into the sea this lunchtime! #Teignmouth #Devon

Lunchtime stroll along #Teignmouth sea front with some welcome warmth from the winter sun. Max air temp (so far) today 11.5C

A colourful start to the day here in #Teignmouth. Expect a bright day today with 🌞 spells. Noticeably milder than of late

Shaldon Bridge in full voice yesterday afternoon during #StornDarragh. For the musical amongst you it's blasting a slightly flat F#!

I hope that they've seen the forecast as I don't imagine those token guy strings will withstand much!
December 6, 2024 at 2:40 PM
The calm before #StormDarragh arrives later on. Yellow & amber Met Office wind warnings from mid-afternoon through until Sunday morning with gusts to 80mph expected on exposed coasts. Take care

"Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning!"
Today's forecast here in Devon: A bright start with some sunshine and feeling milder than yesterday. Skies will become increasingly cloudy around lunchtime with wind and rain expected later, becoming heavy by early evening

Just checked the MONARCH Model output and yesterday's rain does indeed look to have been heavily laden with Saharan dust. dust.aemet.es/products/dai... is worth a look for more detail
