Happy Columbo’s Day

We are traveling to Tampa next month with another couple for a beer league hockey tourney with time for vacation things.

So probably beach and drinks.

But also, there is a 1937 Bintz swimming pool in Ybor City I want to visit.

It would be my 7th.

It's not even open for swimming right now.

Shout out to my car, A Little Bit A, which decided to have its power/charging system completely quit while taking my kid to school, in the rain, with one contact in.

Especially loved it when the power steering, windshield wipers, and screen displays completely went out on the squiggly road.

I don't want to work, I just want to identify, record, and analyze all of the 1920s child deaths/burials of a specific cemetery in western Pennsylvania all day.

Why do I have so many followers all of a sudden? Are yinz all bots? I haven't posted anything remotely interesting lately.

My flight boards in 25 minutes, and we still don't have a gate.

So far, so good.

Traveling to Baton Rouge. My flight was supposed to be yesterday at 1pm, but it was canceled.

Fun fact: did you know that TSA screening at FWA doesn't open until 4am?

I know that now.

Woke at 4am to a text that my flight for work was canceled and rescheduled for Tuesday.

It was going to be the first easy flight schedule I've had in a while - leave at 1pm, arrive at 6pm, ok layover.

Now my flight leaves at 530am so I can meet my colleague in the field before noon.

(Note: I'm not an archaeologist, but I work with their terminology every day).

Fun Fact
In nearly every state I've worked:
Phase Ia = background research
Phase Ib/c = archaeological survey and testing
Phase II = NRHP evaluation
Phase III = data recovery/mitigation

But not Kansas.

When did we stop booing Bettman?

Freebie had an eventful weekend:
He secretly got out the lauder room door on Friday and spent the night in the garage.

Then today, we put him in a harness and let him explore the deck; after about 30 min, he got spooked and literally leapt out of the harness (too loose) and almost off the deck.

My fat loaf started limping today and I don't like it.

Today, a (non-CR) colleague suggested a client could just do my job themselves to save $$ on consulting costs.

My job in this case = researching/writing a historical context & evaluating a resource for NRHP eligibility for agency review.

I'm not easily insulted, but the more I think about it...

My colleague in California is currently experiencing an earthquake on camera during a meeting.

For the record, I requested changes to the first design but approved the revised design (even though I still wasn't crazy about it), but I promise the drawing looked neater than this.

Anyway, I ended up getting it fixed by someone else and am very happy with the result:

that sound you hear is every archivist in america screaming
LTO-9 tapes are 18TB, cost under $100 each, and last for 30+ years making them the most efficient cold storage solution on the market, which every competent IT professional knows, but no im sure you can just dump all of that essential data in some shitty budget cloud storage service lmao

That's my baby! 5-0 Yellow Jackets

Me calling my daughter: "Lucca, it's 3-0. Inform the men."

2-0. Yellow Jackets at the end of the 1st. Which is weird because they usually suck in the first period and come back strong later.

Husband's beer league hockey playoffs start tonight.

Could be his last time playing hockey*

Except for the tournament in Columbus next month.

My 9th grader has brought home a robot baby for the night.

According to her teacher:

"You are graded based on the number of seconds you allow the baby to cry*. Each baby has a different personality. Some of them are more evil than others. Some students think that this is unfair. Anyway..."

Not to be weird, but last night I had a pretty vivid nightmare about Israel and Gaza, which woke me up. I then swore I heard my 9yo sobbing, so I jumped up and checked on her, but she was fast asleep.

The next thing I did was check and make sure the Pope was still alive.
