Democracy requires an electoral system that does not allow a cult with the support of only 30% of the electorate to form government . Where is the representation for the other 70%.

No that is not a mandate especially as it was only 30% of the electorate. It wouldn’t even be good enough to form government in Australia. Wake up America and insist on 50+% & save yourselves from dictatorship in future.

Many of your problems would be solved by the adoption of the electoral system used in Australia. It is almost unique but avoids extremism because all parties have to appeal to most voters. You could never win with someone with a poor reputation or support from a cult that appeals to only 30% of the

The weakness in EU is failure to insist on a standard electoral system that ensures Democracy. Not just the dictionary definition of it. Why permit rogue governments to undermine the principals of the EU.

Just remember, nothing crosses the line as long as they are doing it. You are just entering your period of greatest danger when they will attempt to create the circumstances where state of emergency or martial law can be justified by them.
