Such a fun day.
My daughter and one of my grandsons on our way to trick-or-treat. One of my grandsons heading to a house to trick-or-treat. My favorite Halloween display was back -- the skeleton cookout with flamingoes. Skeletons doing yoga in a front yard in the neighborhood. The sign reads "Really really hot yoga." Not shown, but there is a blast of fog periodically.

Thanks to the Oak Park farmers market for another great season!! Just one week 'til trick-or-treat.
Bell peppers, tomatoes, red onions, apples, yellow potatoes, butternut squash and bakery bread from the farmers market. Fresh donuts made special for the last day of the farmers market -- frosted apple cinnamon and frosted chocolate. There was already a long line for them when the market opened this morning. From last year's trick-or-treat, my eldest grandson dressed as **Mario!** My daughter is pushing a stroller ahead of him on the sidewalk.

My grandsons had some spooky season fun decorating pumpkins and cookies over the weekend.

Stopped at the farmers market this morning. Picked up cranberries for sauce, yellow potatoes for my favorite smash recipe, artisan bread, apple cider, and fresh made donuts for charity. I still have winter squash + a pie pumpkin, carrots, and apples from last week. (Photos from early season hauls.)

For #ThrowBackThursday #tbt... many years ago I joined a social media challenge known as #bba (pinchmysalt.com/the-bba-chal...). Here are a few recipes I tackled.
My first attempt at homemade cinnamon rolls, recipe from The Bread Baker's Apprentice by Peter Reinhart. I used a cheap lightbox setup for the photo -- while I was learning to bake, I also dabbled in food photography. My first-ever attempt making croissants, recipe from The Bread Baker's Apprentice. The top one is chocolate filled and the bottom one is plain. I'd never made laminated dough before -- it was a lot harder than I expected! The croissants turned out far from perfect but were a good learning experience. A first attempt at bagels via The Bread Baker's Apprentice. From front to back: Sesame, cheese, and poppy seed. They came out a bit anemic! :-) The same year I did the #bba challenge I made a big batch of Christmas cookies at the holidays to share with family. (Recipes were from a different source than Bread Baker's Apprentice.) Pictured here are a gingerbread man, peanut butter blossoms and ... some other type of cookie with a fruit topping (I don't remember what it's called :-).

I finally finished the first five books in the Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas (sixth book expected soon 😁) and started on her Crescent City series (House of Earth and Blood).
