That isn’t justice. Of course, people pushing this bill aren't seeking justice or a robust, diverse democracy. They want legal requirements for language access to be destroyed. Until that happens, they want to do the least possible to appear to comply.

AI makes injustice easy. END/

A proposed bill denies people who handle legal matters in another language the right to a human interpreter for court proceedings. Instead of a professional, they get shoddy AI systems that routinely get things wrong, even tho specific wording means the difference btw winning + losing in court. 2/

We’ll be watching to see if and how AI shows up and will support the fights against it. 💪

We are all better off when our neighbors, friends, and families can eat good and nutritious food. It’s a human right that should never be compromised by a machine or used as a political bargaining chip.

Though we have lingering questions on how and when funds will be distributed to states— here’s what we know: USDA has reduced the maximum SNAP allotments to 50 percent of households’ current SNAP amount for November 2025. Link here: www.fns.usda.gov/snap/benefit...

While we celebrate this as a short-term win, the available money ($4.5 billion) in the contingency funding will pay for only about half of November’s benefits; it costs the Federal Government nearly $9 billion to pay for the full month. Money that the Administration has.

Too often states are outsourcing life-and-death decisions about who gets care to algorithms designed by private vendors whose priorities are to cut costs not provide needed care.

These automated tools often cut care with little explanation and leave families with no clear way to fight back. ❌

Thanks for reading! We recognize the useful role that some AI can have in assistive tools. Our primary focus is on AI used by powerful ppl to make decisions about low-income people, which tend to harm ppl on vast scales. Our guide reflects this skepticism for orgs who mainly hear false AI hype.

We hope that it slows down irresponsible or inappropriate AI uses and minimizes the potential harms where organizations decide to move forward.
