Boomer, class of ‘47. But in a good way.
I’ve returned after a long absence. I was among the first few thousand in the beta and it was fun. When it reached 10K, not so much as X-types started showing up. I’m back to see if social norms have curbed the spread.

The barbarians at the gate have arrived with the latest wave. Today’s examples

1. Someone who purports to be pharma boy

2. Shameless commerce by newsreader offering a discount on latest book

3. Shade from fan of newsreader: go to Mastodon if you don’t like it.

Falling out of love is a funny thing. Everything is good, until, suddenly, it isn't. But it's not only romance. Tastes shift out from under the feet across the boards. I just threw over an IDE after 15 years of being mostly ok. Robert Hunter and Blaise Pascal nailed it.

Two months in my proportion of recognized cultural references is asymptomatically approaching zero. I can’t tell if something is a fresh meme or an invocation of the Wayback Machine. My way of life had fallen in the sere. Woe.

Gordon Lightfoot died yesterday, closing out another musical catalog. Whether it was being stuck on the grass where the cold wind blows, or standing on the highway with a sign that just said ‘mother’ he comes down now on the summer side of life.

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner they introduced their fresh crop of interns. At least 75% women. The high proportion can’t be explained by cable Weather Babe Syndrome. Either women are intrinsically superior journalists (about likely as men being) or …

I am inviting emergency management people from Twitter. If you see them, please help them feel welcome. They'll likely be important the next time there is a crisis & people need info.

I've been concerned about recent articles that decisions at Twitter have impaired such communication.

First day to break 75°F on its way so the movable Feast of the Vitamin D Renewal will see the spontaneous carpet of the paler Seattle peep covering all park lawn or beach surfaces.
