I use my family's old Panasonic DVD player as my CD transport. Hooked into a schiit audio DAC, it sounds great. Because I'm listening to the DAC. Not the Panasonic DVD player.

To reiterate, this only applies to the digital outputs. The analog outputs on a $20 DVD player are going to sound exactly like you think. But the digital output is always a bit perfect representation of the CD.

tbh I think I started hearing it just before the AI deluge so unfortunately I can't blame AI for this.
