No-longer-anonymous nerd in dire need of a haircut. Mostly shouting into the void, but at least the void laughs at my jokes.
I'm back in the office and wearing real clothes for the first time in a month. I don't think I care for it.

OMG, it's happened. I just looked up bird species in the city I'm moving to. I think I aged twenty years in the space of a single internet search.

The birdwatchers have me now.

Robots have successfully stolen my bits. They accidentally left a bunch of PAIN in there when they closed me up, but it's disapating. I missed a dose of Tylenol by sleeping through it this morning and didn't wake up in screaming agony, so that's progress.

Maybe you would like some pretty urban wildflowers today.

This queen bed contains:

- My sleeping wife
- Two body pillows, with which she has constructed a continental divide, over which she is reaching to hold onto my arm
- One cat, who is convinced the world is ending
- Roughly 40% of me

Gravity is winning. Send help.

AQI went from 27 to 127 in the time it took me to watch Alien.

Surgery will be done by robot. I got transferred to a different surgeon due to scheduling issues, and the new schedule told me in a very concerned voice, "Dr. [New] uses a different type of robot than Dr. [Old]," as though this were going to be a deal-breaker for me.

I have a yeeterus scheduled next month and am debating requesting that they put something useful in its place. Just imagine if I could turn it into yarn storage!

A certain kitty decided to perform an impromptu aria in the bathtub at 4am. While her operatic accomplishments and ability to find the best acoustics in the house are to be commended, she has cruelly been shut out of the accompanying bedroom at night for the foreseeable future.

If you are overrun with lemon balm (i.e., you've ever looked for a moment to long at a member of the mint family and attracted its attention), may I recommend chickens? The girls are going wild for it! I'm super interested to see how their eggs taste after this.

I just wiggled my mouse for five minutes before remembering that I have to plug my computer into the dock before it turns on, so I guess it's going to be that kind of day.

Kitty is pretty much back to normal (fingers crossed!), which means giving her meds has become incredibly difficult. I don't want her to be in pain, but this sure was a lot easier when she was a subdued little beast. Last dose tonight - wish me luck!

I slept with the widow open last night and woke up to birdsong, which is a whole lot less appealing than it sounds at 4:30am.

Kitty did well at the vet, and I bled minimally getting her there. However, yesterday we had to do it all over again for scary-symptom-that-is-probably-NBD, and there was much more bleeding involved. Have a photo of my little shaved gremlin in celebration and hope for no more vet visits for a while.

Gotta get up early tomorrow to trap a cat in a box to go to the V-E-T. A blood sacrifice is generally involved. Accepting thoughts and prayers.

Things are hard, but you know what annoys homophobes and transphobes the most? When we live happy gay and/or trans lives full of love and friendship. The fight has to be fought, the anger has to well, but make it a joyful rage. It just shows how bitter and unhappy the are. And they hate it.

Wait, how did they pick a new Pope so fast? If rabbis had a conclave, we'd still be on the part where we argue about what a Pope even is.

So now, not only are they shoving AI "helpers" in our face constantly, they're doing it in a way that makes it impossible to use the damn program at all. Adobe has an AI assistant pop-up covering the drop-down in the form I was trying to fill in. Oy, this help I don't need!

I'm seeing Noveltease's Gatsby tonight, and will be very disappointed if they cut the traditional speedboat ending.
Every time I read The Great Gatsby, the final paragraph brings me to tears. Breathtakingly powerful writing:

It continues to delight me, how much clearer the whole world is when I actually wear my glasses. May you all find joy in something equally stupid today.

I wasn't prepared for how much Cory Booker was going to make me cry today. Thank you, @booker.senate.gov
