Over the past decade, firearm suicide has increased 57% among youth in the U.S., and over half of all gun deaths in America are suicides. Together, we can change that.

This #FirearmSuicidePreventionDay, take a moment to check with those you care about, and ask: Is your firearm stored securely?

If we want to stop violent crime in DC and other cities, we must listen to and support those in the communities who have been doing the work for years. Occupying our cities— our homes—with armed military does not make us safer. It only promotes fear, heightens tensions, and creates a greater risk.

A mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and Church in Minneapolis has left at least two children dead and at least 17 others injured.

Kids should not be in fear for their lives when simply going to school or church. We demand better.

OTD in 2020 Jacob Blake was shot 7x in the back by police in Kenosha and left partly paralyzed. We cannot accept inaction when confronted by the daily reality that Black Americans are subject to brutality and violence. We must take action to build the safer future we deserve.

Juneteenth reminds us: justice delayed is justice denied.

On this day in 1865, the last enslaved people in Texas learned they were free, two years after emancipation.

We honor Black liberation and keep fighting for a future where freedom means safety, too.

Breonna Taylor was only 26 years old when Louisville police officers shot and killed her in her home. Police violence is gun violence and it far too often takes the lives of Black women and girls. Today, we honor Breonna by demanding justice and systemic change.

Keep making your voice heard!

The DOJ pulled the rug out from under our communities by terminating community violence intervention funds with zero warning. This isn’t a policy change — it’s political punishment. We demand accountability. #ProtectCVI #FundCVI #CommunitySafety
