This research essentially captures student engagement as reflected in shared neural activity, meaning when students are genuinely engaged in an activity, their brain waves synchronise.

This is robust evidence for classroom strategies to improve attention, emotional connection, and shared focus.

In Brain-to-Brain Synchrony (Dikker et al, 2017) discovered “the extent to which brain activity is synchronised across students predicts both student class engagement and social dynamics.”

Inside the paper, there is this fabulous graphic that highlights how the experiment was set up.
