Today in the COC, students drew and labeled a picture of the water cycle. Then they explained the process to a partner in their L1. It was great to see the confidence students had speaking their home language. Now that they've solidified their understanding, they will practice explaining in English.

This week in the COC, students made compound machines from a wheel & axle and an inclined plane. Today they will use new vocabulary to describe what their machine does.

Today in the COC we started a combined math and science project. We are making a compound machine from a wheel & axle and an inclined plane. We'll be using our measuring skills and our geometry vocabulary. Students watched an instructional video and wrote down the steps. #EduSky #SLIFE

Yesterday in the COC, I placed a glass under my dripping tap. This is how much water was collected overnight. This is a good lesson for our environment unit. Multiply this by the number of dripping taps in a school and that's a lot of money and water wasted. #EduSky

Today in the COC, The Box of Life brought us our very own vermicomposter. We are studying recycling, so this fit in well with our unit. We are looking forward to finding out what foods our red wigglers prefer and how long it takes them to eat a banana peel. #EduSky #ELsky

In the COC, we will often sort objects by their properties or traits. I used Jamboard for this task and missed it until I realized that I could close the side bar and lengthen the screen in Google slides. This allows me to scroll through student work without presenting. #SLIFE #EduSky
