Assessment is important for monitoring progress, but additional assessment points are overdoing it & adding unnecessary pressure.

This represents a repeated failure to recognise the importance of monitoring young people’s wellbeing. Young people deserve that - not another test!🙌

📢 We welcome the Government’s commitment to PSHE at primary level &enrichment, but we urge them to go further 📢 By making PSHE statutory at secondary school, investing in specialist teacher training, & restoring youth services to support enrichment beyond the classroom.

However, curriculum reform alone, isn’t enough. The Review must drive a cultural shift prioritising wellbeing, long-term investment, & holistic support.

Our #GoodChildhoodReport shows school is where children feel most unhappy, with 2 in 5 worried about grades. The system needs change.📢✏️

As Lord Blunkett writes, “Having someone close who you can confide in, and will be there when things go badly wrong will make such a difference in life.”
