There's no need to change the octave - C4 is ~261Hz but C3 is ~131Hz regardless of the instrument so if you want to play C4 on a C-based instrument ( which both piano and guitar are) there's no need to transpose.

It's difficult to explain in 300chars but I'll try. :) All of the guitar isn't an octave different from a piano, just certain notes. This is why middle C is listed as C4 to let you know which octave to be in. C4 = 5frtGstr ~= 261 hertz.

Both piano and guitars are C instruments so you won't have to transpose anything. You should be able to hit the same frequency on the 5th fret of the G string.
