How about the people described in this passage? They may have been “progressives” then, but the progressive era was inherently racist. So, the term has to be defined and cannot be conflated with “liberal.”

This article is mostly fluff about a bygone era of mobility animated by the braindead premise that a “progressive”woman, Jane Jacobs, is singularly responsible for zoning laws. Yet, it also notes at the end that restrictive zoning laws predated her actions by about 70 years. Great job!
