Easy to miss this news with all that’s happening, but what a sad, shameful state of affairs. Sorry to all the species that will go extinct in my lifetime—but we’ve got to think of the (gas, oil, agriculture) shareholders 😭
Trump administration seeks to roll back protections for imperiled species and habitat

This week is making me glad we canceled our decade-plus-long premium Spotify family plan back in the spring. If I could quit it again, I would.

Crowds for days, costumes for miles, and the loudest love for democracy you’ve ever seen.

Need a laugh? Something lighthearted to break up the doom scroll, perhaps? Explore the world of the ocean sunfish and the Bostonians who love them.
Sea turtle? Flounda? Baby fahckin’ wheel? How am I a decade late to the ocean sunfish conversation?
Babe, wake up. My Massachusetts summer seaside diary just dropped.

These might be the most bleak costume ideas in the store (and the irony that everything in there was, like, 30% more expensive than it would’ve been last year). Who is the audience for this tariff tunic costume? “I’m essentially a spreadsheet!” So much Halloween fun! 🥲

I just received notification that my share of the Facebook privacy settlement is headed my way via paper check. Can't wait to spend what I anticipate will be $3 on something special. Take THAT Zuckerberg 😃

In the last week, greedy billionaires have easily convinced me to cancel Hulu, HBO and Disney+. (Adding to the list of Target, Amazon Prime, Netflix and others). I don’t miss any of it. More time and money for cooler shit, like planting native plant like this cute little New England aster! 🤩

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Today’s bug: bordered wedge-shaped beetle. For anyone in the US’ Midwest, plant some Mountain Mint that’s native to your region. It’s far and away the most popular thing I’ve ever planted. Everyone (but the deer) loves it.

A new part of my daily mental health routine is watching and IDing the bugs in our native plant beds. It’s very peaceful and I recommend it. This guy is (I believe) a Perplexing Bumble Bee (common name).
