It's been telling to see how easily their worldview is struck down, and I wonder what sort of situation we'd be in now if we on the progressive side had done so more rather than said "what a weirdo" to ourselves and moved on with our lives.

I've pushed myself lately to have conversations with people around difference rather than quietly saying to myself "what a weirdo" -- both to have that dreaded understanding of where the conservatives are coming from but also to verify and reinforce my own understanding.

When we are to the point where people who live right next to me in Portland, Oregon see the city as aflame when it quite literally is not, it's all of our problem and we all need to understand why reality is not accepted currency anymore. So that we can combat it.
