In traditional European heraldry, there are colors and metals (silver/white, gold/yellow). The rule is you never put a metal on a metal, or a color on a color.

It's a rule for readability reasons - you want contrast. You want to be able to read it clearly on a battlefield. That said, it's a rule.

We forgot the reality of innocent until PROVEN guilty. When it’s really guilty until proven innocent UNLESS you have money then yes

We don't talk enough about how any contact at all with the criminal punishment system can destroy your life. The arrest, the court dates, missing work and other associated costs etc... People who aren't proximate to this really have no idea.

I just want to know where these ppl think ChatGPT got the em dash
People posting about how they’ve never seen em dashes used before the rise of ChatGPT are really great at telling folks they’ve never read a book before.

The upward redistribution of wealth over the past 50 years has shifted $80 trillion from the bottom 90% of Americans to the top 1%.

That’s $80 trillion that would have gone into the paychecks of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

extremely noticeable that I have seen exactly zero black DC residents asked to write about how they feel about Trump's occupation and/or DC's crime.

if they want to go back to the 1950s, we’re bringing the cuisine back to the 1950s too. you put me in the kitchen, I will spend 100% of my time in there finding how much horseradish and shrimp I can put in Jello before God personally comes down here to stop me.

Was recently pointed out to this video of Sir Terry Pratchett saying that he wrote 75% of Good Omens

Thought it'd be of interest to the TL

I’m slowly going through and changing my username on all of my socials. It’s time for an overhaul and rebrand - especially now that I’ve gotten married & changed my actual name too. 😉🤘🏻

Ugh… my fiancé and I successfully avoided the plague for almost 4 years… only to get it now. We’re on day 6 since diagnosis and we still haven’t got much energy.
The worst part? We were in the process of scheduling our new COVID boosters when we got it 😓😓

This. Yes, it is Trans Awareness Week. But honestly, I don't need awareness, sometimes, things would be easier if people were less aware of me.

What we actually need is legislation. Legal recognition. Protection. Affirmative healthcare.
And maybe a different society.
I am tired of awareness and visibility. Go write your federal legislators and demand protections for trans people, like the right to gender affirming health care.

There's nothing like major home repair to make me feel like I'm just six little goblins in a trenchcoat loudly arguing over how to correctly approximate a grown human's actions.

This can't be fooling anyone?!

...and yet, somehow I'm allowed to write checks.

In honor of Joe Manchin retiring, let’s remember the fact that he single-handedly ended the Child Tax Credit, one of the most effective anti-poverty pieces of legislation in recent history, because he thought parents would use that money for drugs.

Joe Manchin Privately Told Colleagues Parents Use Child Tax Credit Money On Drugs
The West Virginia senator just killed Democrats' agenda. In private negotiations, he questioned whether the poorest Americans would spend financial aid wisely.

*sigh* I get to deal with the hell that is the provider the VA outsourced my disability claim to in order to ATTEMPT to get my required VA physical done-the last time I attempted to call this place I was on hold for 21 minutes before I couldn’t stand the repetitive high pitched hold music & hung up

Annual shoutout to that one time in early November when I was getting lunch at the bar and the manager put on Christmas carols.

The entire waitstaff went deadly silent, disappeared into the back room, and then the GAME OF THRONES soundtrack kicked on.

People who are financially vulnerable are OFTEN the first people to pass the same twenty bucks back and forth because they're hoping someone will do that for them when they need it.

Meanwhile, the financially secure are busy worrying about being scammed and how their donations are being used.

My Old Man™️ kitty (Shadow) and I are both very happy that we live in Portland, especially now that the weather’s turning. No more being so cold that it sinks into our bones so deep it feels as though we’ll never get warm again, no matter what we do. And we still get ❄️😻🙃

I don’t know why or what possessed my heating system in my house, but this morning when I woke up, my house was 65 freezing degrees 🥶 inside despite being set to stay at a nice warm 70. Grrrr…have I somehow offended the house deities? What can I do to fix this? I don’t make a good icicle 😅🤣😅🤷🏻‍♀️
