Brúðkaupsvísur was overlooked by Finnur Jónsson's Skjaldedigtning, but Valgerður Erna Þorvaldsdóttir identified it in Íslensk miðaldakvæði as proper to SkP's corpus (it's pre-1400) and edited it for SkP. The poem describes a Marian miracle and is in hálfhneppt (‘half-curtailed’) metre.
Oss bjargi Jésús;
ógnframr himins gramr
dýrðar láti vár orð
endaz, meðan veröld stendr,
svá að heim á degi dóms
dróttinn í unaðs gnótt
ýta laði ágætr
alla; það er bragar fall.

I love the way @judithjesch.bsky.social engages with @onp.ku.dk's and @skaldic.org's daily posts!
The word 'teigr' appears in a place-name in ch. 9 of the Saga of the Earls of Orkney #Orkneyingasaga. Hávarðsteigar, somewhere near #Stenness in #Orkney, was where Earl Hávarðr 'the Harvest-blessed' and 'a good chieftain' was killed by his nephew Einarr at the instigation of his wife Ragnhildr. 🧵1/4

It's pretty outrageous that some guy (github.com/stscoundrel) has republished various digitised dictionaries, the result of painstaking work by many other people over many years, without any attempt at crediting the source of the data, and even claiming copyright for himself on the web pages.

The Skaldic Project as of vol. V (2022) has published 87% of the stanzas in the corpus. Currently 97% of stanzas have been entered into our database, having been through (at least) the first stages of review, with only 162 stanzas to go.

The Skaldic Project has been working on the last two volumes since vol. V came out. We are currently going through 'Batch 15' of the Icelandic History volume, which is slowly coming towards completion. Work on the Runic volume is going on in parallel.

I've set up a feed for the Skaldic Project - with the stanza of the day (including translation) plus some news about the project when it comes up. Follow if interested in Old Norse poetry!

ONP is a "Lexicographical miracle" 😇
The Dictionary of Old Norse Prose is a lexicographical miracle, so it’s frustrating to read that LLM web crawlers are rendering its website harder to use.
Our web services are experiencing very heavy demand at the moment, which is at times overloading the servers. We should get an upgrade soon but until then you may experience downtime.
