Not only is it cheaper, it’s vastly more efficient.

A few years ago, a European chemist pioneered a method of isomer waste recycling that brought the yield for meth production from ~50% to ~98%. The technique was quickly exported to Mexico, and it’s now virtually all I see.

No Sudafed involved.
Restricting pseudoephedrine and ephedrine containing products totally backfired, though. Turns out cooking meth with phenyl-2-propanone instead is much cheaper and the ingredients are more readily available.

Large drug seizure 2 weeks ago and a bad batch now increases in overdose deaths.

Without access to regulated alternatives drug seizures mean more drug harm.

“I am really sorry that I need to do this, please grab my hand.”
And though I’ve told her son why I need to rub my knuckles against her ribs I see him recoil. It’s hard to imagine him being more horrified than he already was when I called him three days ago.
He’s technically her decision maker.

MDMA-related deaths in the UK increased from 51 in 2022 to 79 in 2023, the 3rd highest rate on record (ONS 24).
These were mostly young people not knowing the strength of what they took, utterly avoidable with rapid & accurate testing & messaging on MDMA strength & dosage.

Counterpoint: The evidence shows that safer supply drug programs work
Our research found that people receiving safer supply experienced fewer hospitalizations and emergency room visits. This can't be ignored
