Went to see Souvenir at The Gremlin tonight. A+ performances. A+ costume design. Only on through Sunday so go now. 🎭 🎶

Amazing local theater anyone? This show has been my favorite holiday tradition since I first went in 2022. It is peak Twin Cities Theater Scene. Just weird and fun and joyful. Please enjoy the Klingon child, Zuzu, describing the main character, her father. tinyurl.com/IAHL2025

Good news. We appear to have beaten 6-7 here at our house. We did it by both parents buying all the way in. We adults found every opportunity to say "6-7" for like three days. That shut down the whole operation. 6-7 is no longer cool.

The dog and the birds have conspired to destroy the yard and they are all very pleased with themselves. #urbanchickens #diggingestdog #chickensky

Everyone is all excited to see Lina Khan in the Mamdani transition team, but I'm not. I need that nerd bitch suing oligarchs, you know? Political staff nerds are important, but not as important as nerd bitches with the skills to sue oligarchs. Where do I donate to get Lina Khan doing that again?

Had a meeting at Wilder in Frogtown and learned about this delightful little trail en route. It's giving Mid-century Milwaukee Ave. 10/10. So very amazing (except for getting spit onto Dale with no reasonable way to cross. That wasn't awesome.) 🚲 🚸

This whole Nuzzi/Lizza/etc situation is giving Carmen and I think we should all leave the opera house before Act IV. Nothing nice happens in Act IV, you guys.

The Chicago mix at the original Candyland in Saint Paul (and presumably in the two other locations) is unmatched in snack excellence. The glee induced by the environs is an added bonus, not counted in the popcorn score.

As part of my Self Sufficient Kid Project, I let my middle schooler and friend take the bus downtown to the farmer's market yesterday. They got on the wrong bus home and they figured it out. Taking the bus to the farmers' market is anti-fascist. Kids deserve the chance to be anti-fascist too. 🚌 🫛🥦🍅⛹️‍♀️
"The longstanding farmers market has opened a year-round indoor market at the former Black Dog Cafe, located at 308 Prince Street. The soft opening was held on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. The new indoor market in Lowertown, open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m."

Prediction: After all these years, Carter is going to move to Minneapolis to run for mayor.

Go see It's An Honorable Life for the holidays! The Historic Mounds Theater puts it on annually. It's so fun and weird. The Mounds is a plucky theater in a plucky St. Paul neighborhood. You're gonna love it! And it's directly on the Metrotransit Gold Line! 🚌 🎭 share.google/g3SFkEROWlP3...

St Paul voters had absolutely no idea what the administrative citation question was. Like, zero.

Any other poll workers really looking forward to some good ole alarm anxiety? Who wants to wake up at 4:30 when you could wake up at 2:00!? #elections

Same. I have no major gripes with the other candidates, but in every big issue I have with the city, I can see city hall responding to it. AND I'm always offered an opportunity to weigh in. The response from the Carter Administration to these issues, big and small, has felt...really competent.

November 1. Saint Paul, Minnesota. What the hell is going on here?

Kid gets home at 9:00 pm from trick-or-treating. Dumps out her haul. Asks for sauteed garbanzo beans. What the hell are we going to do with all this candy?!

Daughter's Kpop Demon Hunters costume is complete, at the buzzer as is my way. Even though there were some mistakes, I'm super proud of this because I patterned it myself and we did the embroidery together (first time for both). Happy Halloween! #sewsky #cosplay #garmentsewing

Bad news: St. Paul PD woke us up at 2:30 a.m. due to our car losing the Sixth Street Smash Lotto. Good news: We've been preparing for my urbanist dream of going down to one car for a year. 🚌 🚲 🚸

Halloween is the best holiday season because 1) it is the sole remaining holiday where no one thinks it's weird to knock on random doors socially, 2) adults get to do bizarre art projects and are expect to display them for the neighborhood. We need this holiday now more than ever.

Icebreaker in this meeting was sharing about Halloween. Open ended. So far, it's just turned into "where were you in '91?"

Just voted at the nearest early voting site at Arlington Hills in St. Paul's Eastside. Love local elections because I know my vote is really really going to count. No need to wait folks. Get it done!

Patterning and constructing these patchwork pants was an absolute nightmare, but this top has been a delight. My daughter is going to finish it with her first ever embroidery project. Twelve days left to finish! #kpopdemonhunters #sewsky #halloween
