A pair of Spiked Shieldbugs (Picromerus bidens) I disturbed at Bagmere NR (a private site) in Cheshire last Friday. One of the predatory shieldbug species, the female has impaled a sawfly. @tanyptera.bsky.social

The unusual macropterous form (f. burri) of the usually flightless Short-winged Conehead. Males are v. difficult to tell from Long-winged C-H but females like this are easier as they have shorter, curving ovipositors. A 1st for me, seen yesterday at Prenton Dell Claypit. @tanyptera.bsky.social
