When I was ~7 we moved to Vancouver Island. I'd never seen a snake before, & it turns out I loved snakes. My mom was on permanent watch to keep me from bringing snakes into the house.

We often visit Vancouver Island now, but we rarely see snakes. They're just not compatible with asphalt & tires.

I still remember the first time I saw him smiling as he happily belted out a bunch of obvious lies. Even more than Trump, he's the face of the GOP for me.

That doesn't seem possible in a media environment where pretty much everything is the product of corporate influence.

The smartest people often seem to be the most easily influenced, and nobody has enough processing power to analyze all the shit that's thrown at us.

In the 90s, in alt.religion.kibology, there was a time-honored tradition of adding modifiers to improve any declarative statement:

"in bed!"
"on fire!"
"with a clown!"

There's a Clifford Simak story from the 1960s about people who are re-engineered/given a new body to explore Jupiter. But then they never come back, so an investigator is given a new body & sent to find out. But he finds that life is so *beautiful* as a dog-thing with enhanced vision & hearing...
