I was chewing on Prince in the Basement for a while! It’s one of my favourites for that reason. I obviously won’t get into spoilers but I read the end as a transition metaphor, becoming one’s full self (again, in this case)! Thank you so much for that book 🥹

I love purple prose in fiction (gimme those metaphors), but reading these excerpts has made me feel zero remorse for making fun of those gross text messages she and RFK Jr were sending each other. Two absolute weirdos who I wish I never had to hear about ever again.

Obviously there’s nuance, but if you can measure a noted increase in students requesting additional time for tests, and making use of those accommodations, maybe that’s a sign that the testing period is too short?

Also, who is this hurting? This supposed over-diagnosis of disability to take advantage of supports is baffling to me. Maybe everyone should have these supports? We don’t think of able-bodied people using curbs and elevators as taking away limited resources, because they’re available to everyone!

YES and I try to buy the tankobon of most of what I read scanlated now, if it’s still in print, and suggest the title to publishers. And if/when there’s an English release, I buy that! And even years ago, if something I read scanlated was licensed later, I bought the thing.

Just like when the New York Times did not think the No Kings protests were all that significant, this is indicative of how much mainstream institutions have bought into the idea that only Trump and his supporters represent “real America” and have a right to have their voices amplified.

I’m glad Red River is selling! Hopefully it means we’ll get more of their older shojo like Basara in print again one it finishes (though maybe with a stiffer spine, the Red River omnibus volumes are very flimsy and warp in the centre).
