Mechanistic toxicology group leader @UFZ in Leipzig, Germany. Formerly @US EPA. I want to understand how chemicals in the environment disrupt biology in #zebrafish. I also dabble in chemical-microbiome interactions. She/her 🏳️‍🌈
So lovely to host Jess Plavicki at UFZ today where we learned about how TCDD exposure disrupts neurovasculature development. This image represents the Brown-to-UFZ pipeline - Here’s hoping I get to work with many more Plavicki trainees in the future 👾.

Feeling strong after presentation training today, where a stage actor prepared us for our external evaluation this week. It’s all about audience connection and 👀 contact. Wish us luck! @ufz.de

Making slime, listening to a slimeball get sworn in :(. What a terribly sad day for my country-people and the world.

I spent the last two days in performance training for an upcoming external review. Watching myself over and over again on camera was fascinating… and humbling - my performance energy is ridiculous!

My best data generated thus far in my career is my offspring (n=2). While parenting while researching is getting a bit „easier“, strength and grace to everyone struggling to balance it all ♥️.

I was incredibly lucky to train with Robyn Tanguay at OSU and Stephanie Padilla at EPA as a postdoc. They introduced me to zebrafish and I never looked back. Here’s older me, standing in front of younger postdoc me :).

Before working at the UFZ, I was a PI at the US Environmental Protection Agency. All I can say at this moment in time is that I send my rigorous EPA colleagues strength and stamina to withstand the coming onslaught of the Trump administration. Here’s my sweet EPA group, circa 2017/2018.

Hi! So glad to be off X + looking forward to participating in this vibrant online scientific community. I moved to Leipzig, Germany from the US in 2019. I lead the mechanistic toxicology group at the UFZ where we design new methods to detect neuroactive pollutants using the mighty #zebrafish model.
