I read Kick at the Darkness by Suleikha Snyder. It's a zombie apocalypse novella, yet so emotionally intense, and the central couple has such history and a complex romantic journey, and the HEA is so fulfilling despite the bleak world... HOW?! I love reading skillful romance. This genre is hard.

I've been watching too many video essays on YouTube (at least my social media addiction is educational! etc) & one of them mentioned this concept about the degradation of a symbol's meaning, e.g. cow becomes beef burger becomes burger-flavoured doritos? Anyway this 80s pop revival feels like that.

I feel like I'm on a desert island writing messages in the sand here but please, if anyone sees this, tell me how to search for people on this app because I have found like 2% of the folks I used to follow on the App That Shall Not Be Named and I am struggling.

I thought apocalyptic romance would blow up right after the pandemic but in hindsight, the feelings were a little too fresh. Now we are five years out and the angst is ready to bubble to the surface. I for one am devouring this stuff and searching for more.
