I’m thinking about having Retro Remake host a PS1 homebrew game jam with cash prizes and free SuperStation one units.

Thoughts?

Last call - we are only short on N64, GBA, and MD/Genesis.
I just want to put this out into the universe.

If you are a homebrew developer of a GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SMS, MD/Genesis, N64, or PS1 game with a free version or a free demo of you game, I’d love to ship it with SuperStation as a physical or digital demo disk.
This is a very impressive PS1 game by @eliasdaler.bsky.social running on SuperStation.

We ended up improving this further. Today, we finished validating SS1 v1.2 after two weeks of testing. I am confident in saying we have the best analog gaming platform.

5 analog video outputs + 4 analog audio outputs + HDMI, and all of them work simultaneously.

I decided to go with launch NTSC packaging for the Founders Edition.

The white PCB makes the color pop.

SuperStation looks beautiful.

It’s been a few months and I have a new update on SS1 disk reading. We ended up improving disk reading to be on par with loading from an SD in almost all CD-cores.

All CD cores except PS1 = indistinguishable from SD.

PS1 = edge cases where a game can be <1% slower.
Doing some testing of SS1 reading PS1 data directly from a disk without dumping the data first. It’s much better than I expected.

That being said, copying games to the SD or SSD is still the optimal strategy for performance. It’s a one-time process and better for random access.

8-bit, but plenty of case colors.

We prototyped some ~$10 PS1/PS2 memory cards for SuperStation. They work very well.

I’ve never been more proud of a product I worked on. The team put so much effort into making SS1 the best FPGA platform possible.

Color matching result. Sony has some fire clear blue shell colors.

You can just build stuff. Here’s to 5 years of willing SuperStation One into existence.

We spent the last 8 months creating a user-friendly frontend for MiSTer FPGA. Here's a look at Console Mode running on SuperStation one.

It seems like it wouldn't be expensive given how small this is, but I spent a small fortune making this user-replaceable SS1 controller connector. Here's the mass production version:

Here's the first retail version of SUPER5 Touch + HDMI in the world. I'll be building this for a tutorial and then giving it away.

I prototyped four PCB colors with the clear blue SS1 shell. I decided to go with white because it looks the best.

RR is closed today due to a super typhoon. The office is safe, but losing two days is unfortunate right before a big national holiday.

I don't have a banana for scale, but the mold is huge.

The Shenzhen branch of Retro Remake turned 1 today. Employee #1 joined on November 5th. Today, there are 15 people that work at the company not including me. It's a big change.
