Your writing is so needed. There are people who are listening even as loud, ugly voices try to drown us out. In New Orleans we have a saying for Mardi Gras (and life)—it’s marathon, not a sprint. Take a rest when you need but please know your continued work will save lives.

She's useful to us, but her shelf life and range are limited. More like a bludgeoning hammer than a Swiss army knife. I have no sympathy for either btw. They're tools.

Whatever his teaching responsibilities are he should be divested of those too. Someone like this has no business being in a position of authority, much less teaching others.

Yup. It’s basically dog training for folks like her. Reward the “good girl/boy” behavior, shun the rest. And the rest get the cage aka prison.

Oh this is all such a shame because we obviously share the same sense of humor as educators—and if your colleagues do too then that makes for a brilliant work environment. Minus the oh-so-slightly unreasonable expectations you’re working under, of course. *clutches Victorian pearls*

But..but…it will look good on your résumé! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that old chestnut. 🙄 I’m in private practice now and rarely hear it. Whenever someone does approach me with an “opportunity” I respond, “Great! My hourly rate is….”. Shuts it down quickly—or I get paid. Win-win!

Agree that it could be trimmed and polished up. Right now I’m unable to take on anything more due to a pressing writing deadline—but anyone else who wants to revise and add should feel free!
