A fairly basic plot but feeling quite big a sense of achievement — audio recording, tongue tip and tongue dorsum vertical movement for the word “bead” recorded with electromagnetic articulography (EMA). Love the clear raising of then tongue tip towards /d/!

A surprising number of data sets in linguistics do not converge with lmer() when you include random slopes in the model. I don’t think this is about the failure to use an optimizer (btw, it shouldn’t be necessary *all the time*).
