The doomsayers already predicting the end of the world —at least as kids currently know it. If you want to change social and cultural norms for the better, bold moves are needed. Now let them be kids again and interact directly with their peers in healthier more meaningful ways. #SocialMediaBan

Common sense from a former Australian PM @JuliaGillard It’s why Australia is a global leader in putting protection of the vulnerable before corporate profits.

Good work The Australian Newspaper for showcasing Tobacco executives like Kingsley Wheaton — and other industry-linked figures who feature heavily in Australian's coverage of tobacco, vaping and illicit trade. #MurdochMedia still pushing industry interests over public health.

The international tobacco control community must hold DHSC,OHID and Ash (UK) accountable for the e-cigarette policy failure in England. Countries that ratified FCTC must uphold evidence-based policy—not let industry advocates hijack public health. #VapePolicyCrisis

Among teens, nearly one in three cannabis users transitioned to regular tobacco use, a spike of 15.6% compared to their peers. Even among young adults there was a significant increase with 14% of cannabis users becoming regular smokers. - Looks like another gateway to me!

Perceptions are reality - but it's an unhealthy reality for children: "Nearly two-thirds of European parents with children who are overweight or obese think their kids are underweight or normal weight." iris.who.int/server/api/c...

US experiencing one of its worst flu season in decades. “CDC reported up to 99 thousand deaths linked to the 2024/25 flu season, which was one of the deadliest seasons on record for children.” We can thank these guys:

Finally, the long awaited crackdown on illicit retail tobacco and vapes begins across Australia. Time running out from those evading taxes and funnelling billions into organised crime. @nswpolice.bsky.social @chrisminnsmp.bsky.social

Classic @cathywilcox.bsky.social and also classic neocon negativity which will keep the LNP in opposition for years to come.

“An individual we suspect is responsible for a number of tobacco-related arsons - that person is a national security threat to this country” You let them make money from illicit tobacco and vapes, you fuel the expansion of their criminal networks. @ausfedpolice.bsky.social

The President can’t remember who he is but he won’t forget what he said. @donaldtrumpposts.bsky.social seems to have forgotten what a few in his own administration have said about him including his VP calling him America’s Hitler!

Controlling the number and location of tobacco retailers, and the types of tobacco products allowed to be sold, is crucial to the success of tobacco control programs globally. Because the tobacco gangs and industry interests will not stop preying on the young.

“Sydney the illicit tobacco capital of Australia” - With even the Murdoch press aknowledging the lack of action on illicit kiddy vapes, how much longer before @chrisminnsmp.bsky.social and @nswpolice.bsky.social enforce the laws and shut down the gangs? #Predators

$83 million in profit from one store. Billions lost annually from consolidated revenue while funding criminal gangs. Illicit tobacco is not an excise problem, it’s an enforcement problem. @chrisminns.bsky.social

At the heart of this story is the integrity of the President of the USA. Could you get any more blatant a conflict of interest? ##4CornersAustralia

How venal is this US administration that they would deny their own people renewable clean energy? In the back pocket of the fossil fuel industry. It's what happens when you let a grifter take the Presidency.

Sitting in a hot cabin at the end of a long jetty in the middle of nowhere apparently is some people’s idea of paradise. They really need to get out more and engage with humanity.

The renewable energy footprint in Australia is just .1% of the 3.6 mill sq kms of agricultural land and almost identical to the land used for mining. Don’t believe the liars from the LNP parading around in broad brimmed hats while denying farming communities billions in revenues.
