There’s not a single filmmaker who is so magically good it should excuse them being a bully. Not one. Give their money to someone else. We have plenty of talent and too many assholes hogging the resources.

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:
How to quit Spotify
This Black Friday, here's a guide to finding the best Spotify alternative

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

A byproduct of the streaming only / shift away from physical is the launch of something is the worst it will be with the implicit promise or incremental improvements and corrections rolled out over time as opposed to having to get it right for a cutoff print and ship date.

If you've ever wanted to learn the art of pro wrestling from Ricky Steamboat, then you need to read this mini interview that I did with him for Fighting Spirit Magazine in 2015: web.archive.org/web/20160602...

Some fantastic stuff, especially about selling and comebacks.

why do we constantly need to "fix" basic fundamental things with a quicker or more supposedly elegant solution"? usually because of austerity - budgets are being cut, less time is being allocated for basic needs, and it further necessitates finding solutions that help justify doing that cutting.

i'd never heard of three cueing but it does kind of match with this consistent movement in public sectors towards the constant need to "fix" everyday things by finding supposedly more elegant/simple shortcuts or hacks that end up having unintended horrible consequences further down the road.

Any Democratic senator, at any moment, could've derailed this by calling for Schumer's replacement and casting their colleagues as MAGA collaborators, thereby shifting the Overton window. But they're all in on it. This was always a team effort.

Looney Tunes remained popular for decades precisely because it was airing in widespread syndication on TV all the time. Old cartoons should be FREE to find new audiences, ESPECIALLY when their rights holders don't even care enough to platform them anymore.
After leaving HBO Max earlier this year, ‘Looney Tunes’ is a hit on Tubi, the company says, and popular across generations. It should be a model for every classic cartoons trapped in streaming limbo.
