Also ngl seeing a Turkish French politician publish Arabic content warms my heart at a time when Turkish nationalism is on the rise, esp against racism against Arabs, both in Turkey & elsewhere. Solidarity is so crucial here, esp so in France where struggles are so similar.

Did you know there used to be Easter carnivals in İzmir/Smyrna? Or that Easter Bread is a popular pastry in Turkey to this day [and most have no idea of its origins despite the literal name]?

Hence its indifference to objective signs of cruelty. In its eyes, crime constitutes a fundamental part of revelation, and the death of its enemies is, in principle, deprived of all symbolism. Such death has nothing tragic about it. This is why necropolitical power can multiply it infinitely, either by small doses (the cellular and molecular modes) or by spasmodic surges- the strategy of "small massacres" inflicted one day at a time, using an implacable logic of separation, strangulation, and vivisection, as we see in all the contemporary theaters of terror and counterterror. There were police cars in this protest at front & back for traffic control but no violence broke out [police is usually the instigator of violence in most protests that turn violent]. I can assure you though that it was a diverse Pro-Palestine rally & not lib counterinsurgency.

I was nothing to that bird, which wasn’t concerned with history’s bloody battles or why this creek was called Drowning Creek, a name I love though it gives me shivers, because it sounds like an order, a place where one goes to drown. The bird doesn’t call the creek that name. The bird doesn’t call it anything. I’m almost certain, though I am certain of nothing. There is a solitude in this world I cannot pierce. I would die for it.
