Also ngl seeing a Turkish French politician publish Arabic content warms my heart at a time when Turkish nationalism is on the rise, esp against racism against Arabs, both in Turkey & elsewhere. Solidarity is so crucial here, esp so in France where struggles are so similar.

It is also telling seeing such a common policy list across cities of industrialised nations:
1. Free public transit
2. Housing [rent regulation]
3. Regulation against AirBnB
4. Free school lunches
5. Disarming if municipal police force
6. Cutting ties with Israel [e.g. sister city ties]

Also somehow conspiracy-poisoned progov pundits in Turkey are now claiming that Israel is behind... an "Epstein files trap" against Trump?? Because Trump wants "Turkey to be involved in Gaza"??

With their main character syndrome & conspiracy-rotten brains Turkish pundits are the worst...

One of my favourite things about snowy cold days is the view through foggy windows. Life is beautiful and first snow is always magical.

Been finding Achille Mbembe's "Necropolitics" quite illuminating these days, esp as genocide continues on and the US sees a blatant rise of what is, ultimately, necropolitics indeed...

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate!

Did you know there used to be Easter carnivals in İzmir/Smyrna? Or that Easter Bread is a popular pastry in Turkey to this day [and most have no idea of its origins despite the literal name]?

"Necropolitical power proceeds by a sort of inversion between life and death, as if life was merely death's medium. It ever seeks to abolish the distinction between means and ends. Hence its indifference to objective signs of cruelty."

..."sovereignty consists in the power to manufacture an entire crowd of people who specifically live at the edge of life or even on its outer edge-people for whom living means continually standing up to death, and doing so under
conditions in which death itself increasingly tends to become spectral"

Especially, beyond issues on infrastructure and more, we also have stuff like this coming from Poilievre;

"Spawn

spawn"

Cutting read; as translator also mentions, perhaps a long single poem in the form of a book... "Spawn" by Marie-Andrée Gill, translated beautifully by Kristen Renee Miller.

Mediterranean! From before the Bronze Age to now, woven into the stories of those in the region, connecting us, dividing us, source of so much joy and sorrow.

Must admit, I am also very partial to St Lawrence in North America and Kızılırmak in Turkey ❤️

There were police cars in this protest at front & back for traffic control but no violence broke out [police is usually the instigator of violence in most protests that turn violent]. I can assure you though that it was a diverse Pro-Palestine rally & not lib counterinsurgency.

There was a cybertruck parked in front of my building, which is a "no-parking" spot, and I have not felt this level of sheer rage against an inanimate object, ever.

[Anyway, normally I am not a snitch, but if against Tesla...]
