CURRENTLY ANGRY AS FUCK

it's exhausting to get treated by people who think they're entitled to steal our work as if we're the villains here, instead of what we actually are: other bottom-rung workers doing our absolute fuckin best in a really tough situation.

so like. maybe don't steal our stuff. this isn't a big ask.

Stuff like this is when I get so up in arms about when people go after EVERY corporation. If you think running a small business is the same as running Evil Corp. Inc. you are in a fantasy land. I can only do this because of a supportive family, and because due to my child's health issues... (7/?)

I feel like we go through this every few months, where small-scale creators go, "hey actually we're drowning please don't steal our stuff" and all these fuckin douche bags crawl out of the woodwork to say we're entitled, bougie, rich, privileged, whatever.

We. are. drowning. (9/10)

I hate it when I agree with organized religion that the universe is beautiful and worthy of awe and wonder, and that commodified chat bots are tarnishing the human soul and making us less capable as beings of the universe trying to understand itself.

I think that may be a big source of the disconnect, then. Most people I know both online and IRL who have been asking folks to stop using the past tense have talked about this experience. It's a really big part of why this is so important.

Covid sufferers are pointing out a notable linguistic indicator of the shift in attitude that's caused their suffering. You made a post implying that it's an arbitrary or foolish point to make. They're already dying from that hill, and you're objecting to them naming it and going down swinging.
September 4, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Why are you sure of that, though?
The vast majority of people I talk to about it genuinely believe covid is over, and "during covid" is an expression of that belief. People ask me what I'm masking for, and when I say covid, they're genuinely surprised. Some ask me when it "came back."

That post has brought out a depressing number of people eager to say that disliking the phrase "since/after the pandemic" is a matter of being unwilling to accept what people mean when they say it - and then saying that they mean "during public mitigation." Which is, y'know, EXACTLY THE PROBLEM HERE

It’s a wrong question of the wrong people. The pandemic is ongoing so what would it take for you (and you represent the vast majority) to overcome denial and a propensity to go with the crowd and read those papers on what SARS2 actually does in every body after the aches and sniffles resolve?

Does this look like “during Covid” is the accurate way to phrase things?

Don't mistake your confusion of a word's colloquial definition with its definition in science for "logic."

It mattered a lot for me and the coworkers and friends I talked about it with. A poor economy was understandable, cause we were all aware of the ravages of the pandemic. Him saying things were going well while we were struggling harder than ever, though, that felt like a big f.u. to our faces.

Dude... are you kidding right now?
In this short thread, you're showing a really surprising level of cognitive dissonance. And frankly, a shocking lack of logic. This is kinda scary. I hope you're okay.
