Too grungy?

He doesn't flee the pocket at the first sign of pressure. He doesn't panic and throw interceptions to avoid sacks. He doesn't hold onto the ball, looking like a deer frozen in the headlights.

I'm not convinced that McCarthy will be great, but I have seen nothing that indicates he won't be. His mistakes are predominantly rooted in mechanics (which can be refined with practice), and boldness (ill-advised deep throws in short yardage situations).

I'm only optimistic about young QBs with serious arm talent. The question is always whether they can process the game quickly enough. And virtually none of them can right out of the gate. So one looks for flashes of greatness, and hopes to see them occur more often.

QBs take time to develop. He didn't have a good game, and neither did his receivers (Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson, and Jones each had critical drops). He's better than this, they're better than this, and the team is better than this. But it's gonna be bumpy for a while.

This is so vile. And yet another example of them covering for predators.

That said, I finally got my knee to bend >90°. Which is a milestone for sure.
