Just a few miles from my home, in Redmond, WA, ICE detained folks yesterday. One of the women questioned was Indigenous actor Elaine Miles, known for her role in "Northern Exposure." ICE called her tribal ID ‘fake’. WTF! She's NATIVE AMERICAN you fuck'n idiots!

16 had a Friendsgiving yesterday. My little apartment was packed with teens. 13 wants to go to the mall on Friday. I have to stay on site in case of any gang activity 🥴

So today we are serving dinner at a soup kitchen.

We get to do the things we want to do but have to do the things we should do.

13 is spending the day visiting his baby cousin. He missed his birthday due to a fever and wanted to make it up to him. When I tell you my kids believe in family first whoo! I’m doing something right.

I swear all I watch on Youtube are Selena and Depeche Mode videos. I need to branch out but I might be obsessed.

The VP that hired me is moving to a role in a different division. I scheduled an exit interview with him because I really don't know what I'm going to do without him. He's so smart!patient.professional. He's leaving me with my moron manager that makes me pray for the patience to keep my mouth shut.

Telling the Starbucks barista I never drink Starbucks is like everyone who tells me they don’t use TikTok like they don’t spend hours on Reels or other social media

when we talk about efforts to "erase DEI" can we be more precise and say "efforts to re-segregate workplaces and schools"

In need of some very soothing, calming music this morning so I chose to stream los 200 mejores boleros de oro de todos los tiempos. The kind that played in your abuelas kitchen on am radio constantly. That's the kind of warmth I'm desperately in need of today.

So suitable on both levels.

Brain rot is so real in my house.

Reading 13’s coaches recommendation for high school brought me to tears. When you find people who see in your kid what you see keep em close!

16 got his permit and I am in no rush for him to get his license. The trust is not there to send him out on his own yet. But G made a comment about risking his own license every time he lets him drive and then I was adamant that 16 get his permit. That’s G’s livelihood right there. One less worry.

Time to start HS applications. We were only going to apply to one but decided to apply to all 3 to see what the best offer is. Fuck it we ball.

16 will take 2 steps forward just to take 2 steps back. Grades are still a 3.0 but the behavior issues came out of nowhere. Absolutely nothing humbles me like parenthood. I truly don't know how other parents do it. My kids come first. My entire life revolves around raising them. And still I struggle

At the end of the day, we have to choose, as a society, whether we value technology that disenfranchises us and takes our jobs over ensuring that our neighbors have jobs, that we can afford basic necessities.

Sometimes too much is just too much. And sucking the humanity out of everything is awful.

Then there's this which doesn't convince me to upgrade my smart phone. AT ALL.
Don't watch Maddow tonight if you own a smart phone and ever want to sleep again. All about the spyware ICE is using. And that this Admin is using on all of us. JFC.

Because I already spent 5k on my car this year, I'm just going to switch over to my work phone and let my iPhone 14 Pro die. The battery is hot and hasn't kept a charge all day. And you know what? Fuck Tim Apple and all the billionaires. I'm keeping my coins.

Bookmarking to transfer playlists
finally deleted spotify, and I've had it for a DECADE PLUS and was mewithoutYou's 2% fan. it was the right call. hard to be ethical out there but i'm trying

I used Soundiiz to transfer playlists to Qobuz, which is what I'm using now, and I'm not a smart techie but it was pretty simple and cheaper

I didn't realize the bags of meat we brought from volunteering were 5 pounds of chicken leg quarters. I brought home 3 bags! I didn't know it was that much meat but score! I might have to start volunteering twice a month. It really helps my food budget for dinner. Like ALOT.

16 had a late start today since his occupational classes were cancelled. So I made him a BLT with egg and avo for breakfast. Cut him up some fruit for his walk to school.
Food is LOVE.
