I recommend this paper to GENERALISTS. It is about PRACTICAL WISDOM, which is not often written about coherently.

Whether technē (doing) or phronesis (being) is more important in medicine depends on the goal: whether the goal is the treatment of disease or the healing of illness.

I've often thought this can be useful for self awareness and revealing genuine reflection (rather than curated reflection for the portfolio). Thanks John!
Most doctors have private thoughts during difficult consultations that are less polite than what they ever say aloud.

What if we taught students that this is fine, so long as you learn how to process the thoughts professionally?

Such a pleasure to host Professor Lauris Kaldjian from Iowa today. He is such an icon re #PracticalWisdom in Medicine. I cited him a lot when writing my thesis. We visited Karis Medical centre who embody values based practice.
